Learn why Caroline Noblett can be heard singing “Don’t worry, be happy”.
Our Director of People & Finance is next to come under the Super Six Question Spotlight!
Can you give a very brief overview of your department’s main responsibilities within Granby?
Staying true to one of our strategic goals – People over Profit. Half of my team look after our fantastic Granby team, whilst the other half looks after everything financial.
Is there a specific challenge or opportunity your department is currently facing – that you can share?
As we don’t use agency staff, we recruit ourselves for our temporary fixed term resource. Right now we find ourselves in the middle of our extremely busy period. This means we have a lot of extra bodies around but we love to extend our Granby team!
What do you enjoy most about the culture and environment in your department?
The team may only be small, there are four of us in total, but we really would do anything to support one another and the heart of Granby really is built into our team.
Can you share one memorable moment that made you feel proud to lead this department?
I’m going to stretch this to two answers, or if you insist on one, I’ll give one answer in two parts. From a financial perspective – being highly commended at the finance awards. That was a big boost. And from a people perspective – becoming employee owned and being able to share the news of our first profit share bonus! What an amazing feeling seeing the wider teams reaction!
If your department had a theme song, what would it be and why?
‘Don’t worry, be happy’ by Bobby McFerrin. I find it really important to always find the positive in things, no matter how hard it might be. “Don’t worry, it will soon pass, whatever it is” is good advice for anyone. And, as I say, we are a very supportive team trying to make everyone happy!
If your department could have a superpower, what would it be and how would it benefit the team?
We already have a professional superpower, empathy! Doing everything we can to support our Granby team. That means understanding that everyone is unique in how they feel and remembering to really look at things the way they look at them!

Everything we handle belongs to a class of goods, each of which has its own requirements for storage, packaging, packing and despatch.
