Charlotte Booth – Head of People and Finance
Granby is thrilled to welcome Charlotte Booth as our new Head of People and Finance. With a wealth of experience and a passion for both people and numbers, Charlotte is set to bring a fresh perspective to our team. Her journey to Granby has been marked by a diverse career path and a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment. We are excited to see how her leadership will shape the future of our company.
The Role of Head of People and Finance at Granby
As our Head of People and Finance, Charlotte will be performing a critical role in the business. She will report to Caroline Noblett, our Managing Director, and will be responsible for supporting the finance function as well as leading the wider people team. Her role is pivotal in ensuring that Granby’s financial strategies align with our people-centric approach. Charolotte will help foster a positive workplace culture, managing talent acquisition, and ensuring employee satisfaction and development. Charlotte’s expertise in finance, combined with her enthusiasm for people management, makes her an ideal fit for this dual role.
Relationship with People
Charlotte’s relationship with Granby is not entirely new. She has previously worked closely with Caroline, our MD, at a construction firm called Forest, where Charlotte was a financial accountant and Caroline was the financial controller. Their professional synergy and mutual respect have laid a strong foundation for Charlotte’s new role at Granby. Her admiration for Caroline’s career trajectory and work ethic played a significant role in her decision to join Granby.
Local Girl
Charlotte is a local girl at heart. Originally from Blackburn, she attended school there and still has deep roots in the area, with her parents residing in Blackburn. Currently, she lives in Bury, making her commute to Granby in Blackburn a convenient one. For Charlotte, joining Granby feels like coming home, and she is eager to contribute to the community she knows so well.
Education
Charlotte’s educational background is as diverse as her career. She holds a master’s degree in chemistry from Bath University, a city she fondly remembers for its beauty. During her studies, she spent a year in the Netherlands, working in the industry and embracing Dutch culture. Her love for maths, which was a significant part of her chemistry degree, eventually led her to finance. She qualified as a chartered accountant in practice, marking a significant career shift that has brought her to where she is today.
What She Enjoys About Finance
Charlotte’s passion for finance lies in her ability to tell a story with numbers. She believes that financial data is only meaningful when it is accompanied by a narrative that explains the ‘why’ behind the figures. Her goal is to provide quality financial information that supports strategic decision-making at Granby. Charlotte is also looking forward to delivering finance training for non-finance staff, helping them become more comfortable with financial concepts.
Granby Welcome to Her
The Granby team has warmly welcomed Charlotte, and she has already felt the supportive and friendly atmosphere that defines our company culture. From the senior leadership team to her colleagues, everyone has been eager to help her settle into her new role. Charlotte appreciates the emphasis on people before profit at Granby and is excited to work closely with all departments to foster collaboration and learning.
Health and Well-being
Health and well-being are important to both Charlotte and Granby. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, including her husband, who is a tax advisor, and their 18-month-old son, Joshua. Charlotte believes that a healthy work-life balance is crucial for productivity and happiness. And she is committed to promoting this ethos within Granby. Her love for the outdoors and family time aligns perfectly with Granby’s values, making her a great addition to our team.
