Finance Team of the Year 2022 – Granby ‘highly commended’
Our brilliant finance team has done us proud, coming away with a ‘highly commended’ at the 2022 Finance Awards North West.
Granby’s Finance Director Caroline Noblett (pictured above) accepted the award at the ceremony, which was held at Old Trafford. She attended the event with Victoria Pittman (Head of Client Services) and Nicola Rogan (HR & Payroll Administrator).
The commendation came in the highly competitive ‘5 people or less’ category of the award. Our application had to show our ‘excellence in the field’ and we had to supply detailed examples of ‘collective success’ and how we contributed to Granby’s success.
Our evidence
Joanne Kimber, Managing Director, said: “Our COVID recovery has been greatly assisted by our finance team and we’ve seen our 3PL company grow by 60% during this period. I’m delighted their contribution to Granby – and the North West business community – has been recognised.
“Back in 2019, we moved to the bank that had funded our buy-out of a private equity investor who had funded our management buy-out in 2013. Our future looked more secure than ever – then COVID-19 arrived in February 2020.
“Our finance team provided amazing expertise during a difficult time of client contracts being terminated, staff on furlough, and concerns about meeting the loan re-payments.

What our finance team did
All while working remotely, our finance team:
- Introduced a paperless purchase ledger system, which resulted in efficient management of payments to suppliers.
- Managed all furlough payments through HMRC.
- Negotiated a payment holiday with our bank to reserve cash until the operation and client activity returned.
- Supplied regular cash-flow information to the management team to support agile decision making.
Joanne added: “The stability their support gave the entire business meant that, once lockdown ended, all the staff we’d placed on furlough were returned to full time employment. Among other benefits, we paid off our loan quicker than expected – 5 year term, paid within 18 months.

The Finance Awards North West
This annual event celebrates the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals within the region’s finance community, including the sector’s contributions to the local economy and employment.
In addition, they take note of the diversity of talent in the region and the finance sector’s future leaders set to innovate and shape the industry. In total, individual finance professionals and teams from businesses across the North West were lauded with awards across 14 categories, with more than 500 people attending.
This is the first time this annual event has taken place since 2019. Tickets and other fundraising helped the organiser of the 2022 Finance Awards North West, Robert Walters, raise more than £2,000 on the night for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The winner of the 2022 Finance Team of the Year was VIP Computer Centre – well done!

13.04.21To our knowledge, nobody has tracked an individual clothing item to see how many times it was bought and returned until it found a forever home. And we might never know what the fulfilment and returns picture was before the COVID-19 lockdown, because, with the increase in e-commerce purchases, this consumer behaviour has also likely […]
