AIA Festival of Happiness 2024: Insights and Inspiration at Google HQ

The AIA Festival of Happiness 2024, sponsored by Google and hosted at their King’s Cross HQ, was a remarkable gathering of 240 agency leaders, including Granby’s Caroline Noblett and Nic Rogan.

A Day of Learning and Networking

The day began with a warm welcome from host Alexa Stewart.. Alexa set the stage for a day filled with learning and inspiration. Matt Phelan, co-founder of The Happiness Index, kicked off by discussing the importance of employee happiness, supported by data from over 4 million employees across 100 countries. His insights underscored the global relevance of happiness in the workplace.

Elaine Jobson, known as Australia’s ‘Culture Queen,’ shared her experiences from the fitness industry, highlighting how employee happiness can drive high performance. Her talk resonated with many, offering practical strategies for fostering a positive workplace culture.

Workshops and Practical Solutions

Nina Stephenson-Camps, a mindset coach, led a workshop on creative resilience. This provided attendees with tools to transform workplace uncertainty into opportunities. Bruce Daisley, host of the popular podcast ‘Eat, Sleep, Work, Repeat’ presented “The Culture Cookbook.” This offered simple recipes for improving workplace culture.

The live podcasts featured engaging discussions on purpose-driven agency models, ethics, mental wellness, and high performance. Industry leaders like Lisa Lloyd, Jaye Cowie, and Tom Tapper shared their insights, making it a truly enriching experience.

Exploring the Neuroscience of Happiness

Clive Hyland and Sharon Baker delved into the neuroscience of happiness and psychological safety, emphasising their impact on high performance. Their session was a highlight, offering a deeper understanding of how these elements contribute to a thriving workplace.

The event concluded with Annabel Dunstan and Terry Martin discussing the People Pulse Challenge, a tool for building winning cultures. Their insights provided a fitting end to a day filled with valuable takeaways.
