Granby scores top marks in social responsibility audit!

A recent audit conducted by Intertek on behalf of L’Oreal as part of their solidarity program, has seen Granby score the highest possible grade achievable.

Intertek Group plc is a British multinational assurance, inspection, product testing and certification company headquartered in London, England. They are tasked with monitoring and auditing businesses nationally on their actions regarding social responsibility and other ethical issues. Founded in 1996, they are one of the most thorough and critical auditing companies nationally.

Granby was visited by an inspector from Intertek who dedicated three full days to inspecting their facilities, ensuring that all their practices were ‘socially responsible’ and ethical. The inspection included interviewing over fourteen people across all the different departments in the facility to ensure that the business was following ethical practices. Interviews were handled anonymously and all those involved were only disclosed to the auditor themselves as to not bias any results and to keep results as authentic as possible.

After an intensive three-day audit in and around Granby’s Lancashire facilities, Intertek was pleased to announce that they had awarded Granby their highest possible accolade.

The audit showed that the Granby team felt very happy to be at work with their team and that despite all the events happening in the world, they felt completely safe to be onsite. The team felt very confident in the management around the business and the frameworks that they had created to ensure stability in their jobs and around the site.

The audit investigated and searched through 9 different assessment areas:

  • Child Labor
  • Forced & Compulsory Labor
  • Health & Safety
  • Freedom of Association
  • Non-Discrimination
  • Disciplinary practices
  • Harassment & Abuse
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Hours of work

Their report gave Granby perfect S-rank scores of 100 in each of these areas signalling how Granby is following each of their protocols to perfection and have continued to provide a healthy workplace environment to each of their staff members, ensuring they are supported in every way they need.
