Granby’s Social Value report 2022

Manchester street and bridge

Our data for the impact we’ve made in 2022 is in! We’ve been developing our Social Value policies and how we measure them for the past three years – and we’ll be updating and publishing our results annually.

Social Value is an important topic for us:

  • We’re a member of public sector procurement frameworks like KCS, for a range of 3PL services including fulfilment, kitting, reverse logistics and asset tracking.
  • We’re an employee owned business – Social Value, Net Zero, corporate social responsibility and sustainability are baked into our approach.

Social Value themes – the definitions

  1. COVID-19 recovery – to help local communities manage and recover from the impact of Covid-19.
  2. Tackling economic inequality – to increase supply chain resilience and capacity, and create new jobs and skills.
  3. Fighting climate change – effective stewardship of the environment.
  4. Equal opportunities – to reduce the disability employment gap and tackle workplace inequality by helping people.
  5. Wellbeing – to improve health and wellbeing, and community integration.
  6. Information Security – to mitigate and manage cyber security risks to the market, industry, sector and country (a sub-section of ‘Tackling economic inequality’).

As a member of public sector procurement frameworks like KCS, Social Value is something we take seriously.

Social Value: what we achieved in 2022

Intertek

It’s our vision that Granby will forever continue to build upon a people-focused approach to doing business. Logistics and warehousing is, in reality, a process with people at its heart. So, as a 3PL partner to global and national brands and the public sector, we’re pleased to achieve an overall facility score of 100% in our Workplace Conditions Assessment (WCA).

For comparison, the UK’s score is 84%, our industry’s score is 82% and the global score is only 81%. No non-compliance challenges were identified by the assessment.

Our ISOs are all certified by external auditors at least every 3 years with annual assessment days for each one.

We now source 23.25% of our packaging from sustainable sources. In 2022, we also banished single use plastics by investing in new equipment and processes.

Employee owned: underpinning Social Value

One of the developments in 2022 was that Granby became an employee owned business. In doing so, we’ve secured its position as a trusted 3PL fulfilment partner, as well as our vision of a business that adds measurable value on many levels, including commercial profitability and Social Value.
