Granby achieves ISO 13485:2016 Medical Devices standard
As we continue to grow our involvement with public sector procurement of 3PL services, we’re pleased to confirm that Granby has met the required standards of ISO 13485 Medical Devices.
This is the standard that manages quality throughout the life cycle of a medical device. It’s a mandated accreditation requirement for Lot 3b: Kitting and Fulfilment Solutions and Services of Storage, Distribution, Kitting and Associated Services (R6282), a Crown Commercial Service (CCS) framework agreement.
Putting 3PL at the heart of public sector projects
Joanne Kimber, Granby’s Managing Director, said: “We’ve been a supply chain partner for many public sector projects, including those that involved medical devices. Gaining ISO 13485 means we are better placed to support health sector clients with their medical device requirements.
“Having logistics experts at the heart of things also brings significant benefits and added value. We have exceptional warehousing facilities with a warehouse management system that we continue to invest in.
“We can track assets from despatch and control a reverse logistics process. Our fulfilment system makes it easy for our public sector clients to order what they need and check on performance data in real time.”
“Having logistics experts at the heart of things brings significant benefits and added value.”
Granby is unusual in that it vets, hires and trains its own bank of production staff. This means there’s less staff turnover and the teams working on a project are always up-to-speed with the requirements of a particular job.
“ISO 13485 Medical Devices is a very difficult standard to get,” Joanne said. “We were required to prove that we have extremely robust processes and procedures in place. We underwent a rigorous external audit.
“I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved. Everyone at Granby has supported this goal and put a huge effort into getting here in a short timescale.”
