March 2024
Welcome to the latest news update from Granby. The good news for us all is that March is here and lighter, brighter nights are just around the corner. This is why our cover image this month is some lovely daffodils from Thompson Park in Burnley, Lancashire.
February saw the publication of our 2023 Social Value Report. Amongst the many highlights is the finding that 87% of our staff feel their training needs are met, which we are very pleased about. On the environmental front, having banished single use plastics, we are proud to share that we now source 86.5% of our packaging from sustainable sources.
We had a promotion to celebrate for Kayleigh Scott, now our new Client Services Manager, as part of our exciting client facing team restructure, which is designed specifically to improve the service we deliver for all our clients. Victoria and Kayleigh managed to take in the Future of Packaging show at the NEC and on the back of that took some time out to take a really deep look into the future of packaging.
We hope that your first quarter is going well and we look forward to talking again with you all in April.
Social Value Report Granby make huge leaps forward
Granby have been developing our Social Value policies and how we measure them for the past four years and now our data for the impact we’ve made in 2023 is in!
The whole report can be viewed through the link below but some highlights of which we are particularly proud is that having banished single use plastics in 2022 we now also source 86.5% of our packaging from sustainable sources. Looking at our team, 87% of Granby staff feel their training needs are met and the same numbers feel they are treated with respect by their colleagues. two measures of which we are very proud.
A Deep Dive into The Future of Packaging
Victoria Pittman and Kayleigh Scott from Granby knew how to make the most of two days at the Future of Packaging Show at Birmingham’s NEC last month. As well as catching up with suppliers and colleagues, the pair were able to connect with keynote speakers. You can read more from two of those key speakers on the link below. In terms of key shouts from the event, Granby are proud to be ahead of the curve on the key packaging trends; sustainably designed packaging, reduction of our carbon footprint, and delivering sustainability transparency across as much of our supply chain as possible. So, all in all, a great show with plenty of conversations to inform the future, many new connections forged, older connections reinforced, and some rather tired feet. Here’s to the next show!
Job Opportunities in Warehousing and 3PL
Last month we were at the Blackburn with Darwen ‘Jobs and Skills Fair’ with Granby’s Nicola Rogan and Declan Talbot discussing career opportunities in our industry with young job seekers from our community. Nic is a key member of the Granby HR team, while Declan is an apprentice focusing on Client Services. Granby was particularly excited to participate as we are supporting the UK Warehousing Association Year of Warehousing’s efforts to showcase the unique career opportunities in warehousing. Nationally, warehousing offers roles for job seekers from all backgrounds, including those in our disability communities. You can read more about the Year of Warehousing below. At this event, Nic was able to share information on careers in warehousing, contract packing, promotional marketing and the 3PL industry, and Declan, as a young apprentice was able to share his firsthand insights into our sector.
Kayleigh Scott New Client Services Manager
Massive congratulations to Kayleigh Scott on her promotion to Client Services Manager. Alongside this promotion, Niamh Powton, Rebecca Jade Hanslip , Chloe Goss, Klaudia Sadzynska, and Kelsey Hall are now Client Partners. Victoria Pittman, naturally, will continue to head up our Client Services team, with Kayleigh as her direct report. Kayleigh will work very closely with each of our Client Partners, who will retain their individual client responsibilities. The new structure allows Kayleigh to bring an extra level of service and control across the team, in turn strengthening the support we offer to each of our clients. In February we also celebrated Employee Appreciation Day. We’d like to send out a big thank you to every one of our amazing team members – we truly appreciate every single one of you and all the hard work you do. Thank you for being a part of our team!
Creativity Focus in 2024
As a supplier and partner to many businesses, meeting the demands of procurement teams is core to our success. After all, a clear understanding precisely what procurement teams are looking for is at the heart of responding to a brief or tender. In February, Kayleigh Scott was delighted to take the opportunity to hear first-hand what procurement teams are looking for. The key takeaway from these discussions was not only a growing importance of creativity in driving innovation but the desire of procurement teams to see it in tenders. As Kayleigh eloquently put it, “It would seem that encouraging creativity in the workplace is essential for fostering innovation, improving problem-solving, and enhancing overall productivity.”
