Procurement will focus on creativity in 2024

What are Procurement teams looking for?

Procurement will focus on creativity in 2024. As a supplier and partner to many businesses, meeting the demands of procurement teams is core to our success. After all, a clear understanding precisely what procurement teams are looking for is at the heart of responding to a brief or tender. This is why Kayleigh Scott of Granby was delighted to take the opportunity to attend the ‘Procureneur Club’ event hosted by Essential Sourcing recently, and hear first-hand what procurement teams are looking for.

Key take out – Creativity

The key takeaway from the discussions was:

(a) Procurement will focus on creativity in 2024 and

(b) There is an increased importance of creativity in driving innovation.

As Kayleigh eloquently put it immediately after the event, “It would seem that encouraging creativity in the workplace is essential for fostering innovation, improving problem-solving, and enhancing overall productivity.”

Why is this?

Some of it is obvious but often forgotten, notably that creativity in bids can help procurement teams stand out. Clients do this by offering unique solutions to client’s needs. More pertinently, it is the creative bids that demonstrate innovation and forward-thinking, that best showcase a team’s ability to think outside the box. Often this means a vendor is better able to demonstrate their understanding of the client’s challenges. As a consequence they provide more tailored solutions addressing those specific needs.

The event also covered ESG, company values and the importance of buying local. These are increasingly important elements of public sector tenders. This especially true where social value has such a big influence on the decision-making process.

Overall, Kayleigh found the event to be “…truly insightful and it was good to have an opportunity to exchange ideas with such a diverse group of professionals. I’m looking forward to implementing some of the learnings from the event in my own work.”
