Team Granby tackle Tough Mudder

Tough Mudder North West
The Granby Team had a great time yesterday at Tough Mudder North West at Cholmondeley Castle in Malpas, Cheshire. The conditions were challenging but exciting! With very warm temperatures, sticky mud, and lots of rain, it was quite an adventure for the 15 strong Granby team who completed the entire 10k course as a unit.
“I was left behind when there was a photo opportunity for the team, they realised I was missing and all turned around to see me fully covered in mud after cannon balling into the mud – everyone just started laughing!” Tom Barrett
What is Tough Mudder?
Tough Mudder events are known for their demanding obstacle courses, and this one didn’t disappoint. From crawling through mud pits to scaling walls and conquering water obstacles, the team faced a variety of physical and mental challenges. The wet conditions added an extra layer of difficulty, making it even more impressive that the whole team completed the course.
“Brutal but fun.” Beki Hanslip
The Tough Mudder Pledge
All entrants respect the Tough Mudder Pledge. The Tough Mudder pledge is a set of principles that participants agree to follow during the event. The first principle states that Tough Mudder is not just a race, but a challenge. This means the focus is on overcoming obstacles and pushing oneself to the limit. The second principle emphasises the importance of teamwork and camaraderie over individual performance.
“For me, the best moment was that Granby started the challenge as a team, did every obstacle as a team and ended together crossing the line as a team!” Caroline Noblett
The third principle highlights the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and not complaining. The fourth principle emphasises the spirit of helping others. Participants are encouraged to assist their fellow Mudders in completing the course.
“Everyone gelled really well as a team and we were like best friends straight away!” Dillon Healy
Lastly, the fifth principle is about conquering fears. Participants are encouraged to face their fears head-on and push themselves outside of their comfort zones. Overall, the Tough Mudder pledge promotes a sense of community, teamwork, and personal growth throughout the event. something we at Granby buy into completely.
Cholmondeley Castle was certainly a beautiful location for such an event. Situated in the picturesque countryside of Malpas, Cheshire, the castle provided a stunning backdrop for the Tough Mudder course.
Team Granby
Participating in Tough Mudder events is not only physically demanding but also a great opportunity for team bonding and camaraderie. The Granby teams supported and encouraged each other throughout the course, creating lasting memories and strengthening their relationships.
Kayleigh Scott said “There were many tough moments, especially for the climbing parts, thank God for the lads as they really grafted to lift, pull and force us all over certain obstacles”
This is such an incredible achievement we simply must mention each of the team by name. Here they all are, in no particular order!
Lisa Widdowson, Dillon Healy, Humayra Ali, Beki Hanslip, Albert Bajkowski, Caroline Noblett, Kelsey Hall, Kayleigh Scott, Lewis Brannigan, Harry Brannigan, Tom Barrett, Tommy Walsh, Danielle (Dillons partner). Reece Healy, and George Berry. The team were joined by Rachel Haslam from Team Academy.
“Rachel was such a fab addition! I think everyone appreciated her upbeat and positive attitude.” Caroline Noblett
Congratulations
“The best part was the teamwork, I also loved the swim in the lake to get all the mud off us!” Kelsey Hall
Overall, it sounds like the team had an unforgettable experience at Tough Mudder North West. From the warm and sticky conditions to the wet and muddy obstacles, they embraced the challenge and came out victorious.
“Hands down – and I know everyone will agree – the best part of the whole thing was the teamwork and crossing the finish line together – looking back it’s what made the whole thing so enjoyable and fun. No one was left behind!” Humayra Ali
Congratulations to the team on their accomplishment!
