May 2024
Welcome to the May news update from Granby. Lots to cover this month, not least an invitation to anyone visiting Procurex National on 16th May, to come along and say hi on Stand 61. This event gives us a unique opportunity to explore topics such as procurement reform, social value, and net zero. We also have the first of a 2 part video series on Public Sector Frameworks, a co-production with Procurement Services. Victoria Pittman joined the panel at the UKWA North West Roadshow, as well as attending the UKWA Parliamentary Reception for the launch of the UKWA Election Manifesto initiative. Reasons to celebrate include our reaccreditation with Investors in People, a big welcome for new members of Team Granby and for Earth Day this year we celebrated the joys of Spring by getting right down to earth - with a packet of Sunflower seeds for everyone. See you at the start of June!
Procurex National 2024 Liverpool
Granby are delighted to be exhibiting at Procurex National 2024 on Thursday 16th May, the event that connects buyers and suppliers from across the UK’s public procurement sector. This major event offers a unique opportunity to learn about developments close to Granby’s heart, for shaping the future of the UK’s public procurement sector, a marketplace valued at approaching £400bn annually. These topics include the impact of procurement reform and the growing importance of social value and net zero. We look forward to welcoming you to Stand 61 next week.
Public Sector Frameworks Webinar
Welcome to the first of our 2-part video series on Public Sector Frameworks, brought to you in collaboration with Procurement Services (formerly KCS Procurement Services). The video looks at procurement in the light of The 2023 Procurement Act which looks to shake up the outdated procurement system to ensure that every pound spent on public procurement goes further for communities and public services, emphasising value for money, public benefit, transparency, and integrity. In this video, Granby’s Victoria Pittman and KCS focus on three key questions: What is a public sector framework? Who can use it? And what are the benefits? A second video, looking at Public Sector Frameworks from the perspective of the supplier, will be available next month.
North West Roadshow Nurturing Talent
In April, Granby’s Victoria Pittman participated in a panel discussion at the UK Warehousing Association North West Roadshow in Warrington. Recruitment was a key topic, with Victoria emphasising Granby’s own commitment to nurturing talent and succession planning. She also welcomed the upcoming Warehouse Manager CPC qualification, designed to elevate standards in the industry and provide opportunities for career progression.
Parliamentary Reception UKWA Manifesto
Victoria Pittman, Head of Client Service and Business Development at Granby was back at the Houses of Parliament last month attending the UK Warehousing Association Parliamentary Reception for the launch of the UKWA’s ‘election manifesto’. The event was hosted by Ben Everitt MP who was joined at the podium by Baroness Scott and Greg Smith MP. The UKWA manifesto represents an opportunity to understand the challenges facing the sector and to hear about the potential solutions from those working within it. As the UKWA’s Honorary President Baroness McIntosh of Pickering put it in the introduction to the manifesto “it is essential that warehousing is no longer overlooked by our government and that we change direction to facilitate a more favourable policy environment for the sector.”
Investors in People Granby Reaccredited
Granby have been reaccredited with the Investors in People accreditation. This is a significant achievement that showcases our ongoing commitment to investing in our employees and to creating a positive work environment. Investors in People accreditations are recognised around the world, making them the global benchmark when it comes to people management. It’s wonderful to be part of the Investors in People community, a community that values the importance of good work and takes action to support it.
Warehouse Team Strengthened
Welcome to Granby, Jonathan Massaro, Colin Masterson, Adrian Cocker, and Melissa McCaw! We are delighted to have you join our growing company. Colin joined us in February as Warehouse operative, in April Jonathan joined as Production Team Leader alongside Adrian and Melissa, who came onboard as warehouse operatives. During this UKWA Year of Warehousing, more than ever, we are committed to investing in our warehousing team.
Sunflowers for Everyone
In April we recognised Earth Day and a global focus on Planet vs. Plastics. We celebrated this event by holding a “Sunflowers for Earth Day”. At Granby we appreciate that we have the power to use our experience, knowledge and partnerships to influence positive change and innovation in our sector, across the supply chain, and for our clients. Which is why we have our ‘Sunflowers for Earth Day’ Sunflower Seeds initiative. All employees at Granby were given a pack of sunflower seeds. There’ll be a friendly competition over the summer to monitor growth! And for each of us, a daily reminder when we look at our blooms, of just how precious our planet is.
