Welcome to our March update!

Welcome to our March News Update! This month, we delve into the transformative impact of the Procurement Act 2023, which promises to enhance transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity in UK public sector projects. We also highlight our Annual Investors in People Update, where an independent review has provided valuable insights into our people management and organisational development, aligning our strategic focus for the year ahead. February also marked National Apprenticeships Week, a time for us to celebrate and reflect on the significant contributions apprentices make to our growth. Lastly, we’re proud to announce that two of our team members have successfully achieved the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF), highlighting our dedication to workplace safety. As spring approaches, we look forward to sharing more updates with you in April.

Legislation

Procurement Act Granby and Public Sector Procurement

The Procurement Act 2023 goes live today. As the UK Government continues to refine its approach to public sector procurement, the Procurement Act 2023 went live on February 24th, 2025. This legislation introduces a series of reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity in the procurement process. For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) like Granby, this Act presents a unique opportunity to engage more effectively with public sector projects, particularly where SMEs can deliver distinct value advantages to these projects.

Investors in People Annual Review

Granby has proudly maintained its accreditation from Investors in People for many years, marking a significant and ongoing milestone in our journey towards excellence in people management and organisational development. Recently, Investors in People conducted an independent annual review to assess our progress over the past 12 months. This is a really useful process that helps ensure we keep our strategic focus aligned for the year ahead. This article summarises the key findings and future plans from our latest assessment, conducted in January 2025, which involved conversations with employees from various roles across our company.

Co-Packing Innovations, DEFRA, and Dragon's Den

The Packaging Innovations Show is an annual event that highlights the latest advancements in packaging technology, design, and sustainability. This news update shares details not only of DEFRA’s PackUK initiative aimed at reducing packaging waste and promoting a circular economy but also how Granby recognise the importance of inclusive packaging, emphasising both accessibility and sustainability. And in terms of impact, Peter Jones from Dragon’s Den recently endorsed co-packing, talking of outsourcing packing with a co-packer like Granby as delivering a real strategic advantage for business growth and efficiency.

Training

National Apprenticeships Week

Last month saw Granby marking National Apprenticeships Week, a time to celebrate the significant contributions apprentices make to businesses and communities. At Granby, we take this opportunity to reflect on the vital role apprenticeships play in our growth and development. In fact, our Managing Director, Caroline Noblett, is currently serving as a judge for the BIBAs Apprentice of the Year Award, highlighting our commitment to nurturing talent. National Apprenticeship Week itself is an annual event celebrated in various countries to highlight the importance and benefits of apprenticeships for individuals, businesses, and the economy.
