Granby’s impressive fundraising efforts

It’s been a busy month of fundraising! The Granby team have taken on a whole host of physical challenges to raise money for Lancashire Mind.
Great North Swim
Lisa Widdowson, our Production Team Leader, took on the Great North Swim a couple of weeks ago. The Great North Swim is an open water swimming event in Lake Windermere, offering some very picturesque views.
Lisa successfully swam the 1-mile route, despite the choppiness of the lake! Here’s what Lisa had to say…
“I completed the Great North swim last year, and I aim to beat last year’s time of 1 hour and 12 minutes, while raising money for Lancashire Mind.
Lancashire Mind is a charity that is close to my heart, I recognise the valuable work they carry out and the vital services they provide to the local community.”
We’re all feeling very proud of Lisa, who managed to raise an incredible £250 for Lancashire Mind.
Summer Solstice Walking Challenge
Our Managing Director, Caroline Noblett, recently took on the Summer Solstice Walking Challenge in aid of Lancashire Mind.
For this challenge, Caroline walked non-stop around the Barden Athletics Track from sunrise (4:39 am) until sunset (9:41 pm). It turns out that Caroline was walking for so long that her watch battery ran out, but she did manage to get the following statistics, and they’re very impressive!
- Caroline walked for 17 hours and 6 minutes
- Her watch tracked 41 miles and a whopping 95,358 steps – before it ran out!
- Caroline continued walking for 1 hour and 43 minutes with no watch tracking

Here’s what Caroline had to say about the event…
“Completing this challenge was all about mental strength – walking for 17 hours and 6 minutes on the hottest day of the year. Pounding around the same track, one determined step at a time.
I hit so many brick walls. My legs didn’t feel like mine, my feet felt like bricks. I was so swollen everywhere and don’t even get me started on the pain in my lower back.
What got me through? The incredible others also walking that track—their little gritted smiles that said, just keep going.
And of course, the unwavering support from family and friends. From Anna S., Andrew Gregson, Aunty Karen, Adam Botterill, Victoria Pittman, Moh, Lisa, Jay, Niamh, Damon & Amelia on the track and to so many other messages of support and encouragement. They meant more than you know!
I now understand what this event truly represents—and why the work Lancashire Mind does is so vital. I was proud to be a trustee before, but now I get it on a whole different level.”
We’re all feeling very proud of Caroline for taking on this extreme challenge, on one of the hottest days of the year! Caroline has raised an amazing £885 for Lancashire Mind!
Lancashire Mind is a local charity with which we work closely. We recently sponsored Lancashire Mind at their Roadshow event, which was a huge success, allowing them to provide helpful well-being tips to people of all ages across the county.
