Granby announce partnership with Wrap Up UK
Granby are excited to share some wonderful news with you. Granby is proud to announce our partnership with the incredible charity, Wrap Up UK. This collaboration aims to provide coats to individuals in need across the UK who struggle to keep warm during the winter months.
Wrap Up UK
Wrap Up UK is a project led by Rotary Clubs in partnership with Hands on London. Their sole mission is to collect warm winter coats in good condition from the general public through various collection points and donation stations. These donated coats are then sorted, packed, and distributed to charities and community organisations that offer frontline services to those in need.
It’s important to note that the coats are not given directly to the homeless and individuals in need. Instead, when someone reaches out to a charity for a coat, Wrap Up UK opens up a conversation and may discover other forms of support available for them. This approach ensures that every individual gets comprehensive assistance beyond just a warm coat.
Wrap Up UK originated in 2018 in East Lancashire, which is extremely close to our hearts and our home at Granby. We are committed to delivering Social Value in all areas of our business and communities, particularly in health and well-being and tackling economic inequality.
Victoria Pittman, Head of Client Services and Business Development at Granby, said “This commitment to Social Value extends beyond our own workplace, out into our wider community. When we became aware of Wrap Up UK, and looked at their operations, it became clear from the outset that there was a natural fit with Granby. As such, we are thrilled to be able to support them in their fulfilment ambitions”.
In 2018, Wrap Up UK had the participation of just seven Rotary Clubs. Since then, the project has grown significantly each year, except for 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic posed its own unique challenges. Last year, 52 Rotary Clubs from England, Scotland, and Wales participated in the project across 14 different geographical regions. Together, they collected an impressive 27,500 coats, which were distributed to 121 charities. This remarkable effort involved 254 volunteers who recorded 2,296 hours in Rotary Club Central.
This year, Wrap Up UK has expanded even further, with over 100 clubs now involved in 23 locations across the UK. The organising team behind this incredible initiative consists of members from Accrington Rotary in District 1190.
Victoria Pittman had this to say about the project: “At Granby, we are honoured to support Wrap Up UK and their mission to provide warmth and support to those in need. We hope that we can help spread the message for them and together, we can make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities across the UK.”
