Attending UKWA Annual General Meeting 2025

Attending UKWA Annual General Meeting 2025

Earlier this month, Victoria attended the UK Warehousing Association’s Annual General Meeting, which was packed full of insightful information that we’re pleased to share with you.

The UK Warehousing Association is Britain’s leading trade organisation dedicated to the warehousing sector. The organisation provides a voice for the entire industry, enabling us and many other businesses to operate ethically, profitably and safely. They pride themselves on ensuring industry professionals are listened to and that their views are communicated effectively to the UK Government.

What is the UKWA Annual General Meeting?

The UKWA Annual General Meeting provides an excellent opportunity to stay informed about industry updates and connect with like-minded business professionals from across the sector.

This year’s event was privileged to welcome Baroness McIntosh of Pickering, President of the UK Warehousing Association (UKWA).

Baroness McIntosh provided a valuable legislative update, highlighting the 28 bills currently progressing through Parliament. While these span a wide range of sectors, she focused specifically on those with direct relevance to the warehousing and logistics industry, covering areas such as infrastructure investment, workforce development, and environmental regulation.

Her insights reinforced the importance of staying informed and engaged with policy developments that shape the future of our sector.

Updates from the UKWA AGM 2025

In addition to the 28 bills currently passing through parliament, the UKWA AGM team also provided some other insightful information.

The UK warehousing sector is currently valued at £35 billion and is projected to grow by a further 8% over the next five years, reflecting its critical role in supporting the broader supply chain and the continued rise of eCommerce.

At Granby, we are proud to contribute to this dynamic and fast-evolving industry. We remain focused on continuously enhancing our service offering through innovation, operational excellence, and a commitment to delivering measurable value for our clients

As a trusted warehousing and 3PL company, we thrive on being agile and gaining a deep understanding of each client’s unique needs.

During the Annual General Meeting, we learned more about the UKWA’s plans to support the following Bills.

  • Schools Welfare Bill: This aims to improve child welfare and raise educational standards. This particular UKWA support is specifically designed for Gen Z talent.
  • Infrastructure Bill: This aims to accelerate the rate at which new buildings in the UK are constructed. It also links to the government’s Clean Power 2030 goals.
  • Planning Bill: This links to the UKWA’s goals for solar panel projects in the UK. The UKWA is actively involved in this bill; you can find out more information here.

UKWA Annual General Meeting 2025

A huge thank you

This year’s annual meeting marked a sad but exciting new chapter for the UKWA and its valued members.

Granby extends its sincere thanks to Mike Thomas for his outstanding leadership and service as the outgoing Chairman of the UK Warehousing Association (UKWA). His contributions have had a lasting impact on the warehousing and logistics sector, and we are grateful for his dedication and advocacy on behalf of the industry.

We are also pleased to welcome Gary Whittle as the incoming Chairman and Ian Henderson as Vice Chairman. We look forward to working with you both and supporting your efforts as you lead UKWA into its next chapter.

How Granby supports the UKWA

Our Head of Business Growth, Victoria Pittman, was invited to attend the UKWA Annual General Meeting. Granby is a proud member of the organisation, and Victoria herself is a dedicated member of the UKWA Board. Victoria’s prestigious role on the board is a testament to her continued commitment to excellence within the warehousing and logistics industry.

In addition to attending the Annual General Meeting, Victoria was invited to the UKWA Awards for Excellence, for which she served as a judge earlier in the year. The awards ceremony was hosted by the talented Rob Rinder MBE, and it highlighted some of the most outstanding achievements within the sector.

UKWA Awards AGM 2025

Here’s what Victoria had to say about attending the two events…

“It was a privilege to attend the UKWA AGM and hear from our President, Baroness McIntosh of Pickering, who provided a valuable update on the 28 bills currently progressing through Parliament. Her insights into the School Welfare Bill, Infrastructure Bill, and Planning Bill highlighted the potential impacts on our industry and underscored the importance of the UKWA’s ongoing support.

My heartfelt thank you to our outgoing UKWA Chairman for your dedicated service, and warm congratulations to our newly appointed Chairman and Vice Chairman. It was also inspiring to attend the UKWA Excellence Awards and continue to witness the incredible talent and innovation driving our sector forward. Congratulations to all those shortlisted and especially to this year’s winners.”

Granby is proud to be a member of the UKWA and recognises the value of their work in our sector.
