April 2024

Spring is here and there's lots to celebrate

Welcome to the latest news update from Granby. This month, we have much to celebrate, including the exciting announcement that our Managing Director, Caroline Noblett, has been recognised as one of Lancashire's Rising Stars by Lancashire Business View. Elsewhere, Caroline and Victoria attended the UK Warehousing Association conference, which has since been hailed as the "best-ever." In the spirit of celebrating warehousing, we are also delighted to announce that two members of our team have successfully completed their counterbalance forklift training. We want to take this opportunity to give a big shout out to Eddie and Richard, who are integral members of our warehousing and operations team, playing a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to our clients. And as March marked International Women's Day, we are proud to share the thoughts and reflections of some of our key team members in support of this global event. We hope you enjoy the read and we look forward to talking again with you next month.

Caroline Noblett Lancashire's Rising Star

Lancashire Business View magazine have for many years published an annual feature highlighting the achievements of women in business. This year they wanted the spotlight to shine on those under the age of 36. They had a tremendous response and many impressive nominations highlighting the achievements of young women in all types of business across our county. Their talent, energy and enthusiasm shone through. Out of that list an independent judging panel chose a selection of younger business women who they believe are making a real difference and are pointing the way to a brighter future for Lancashire. Granby would like to congratulate our managing director, Caroline Noblett on being selected for this list.

UKWA 'Best Ever' Conference

In March, Victoria Pittman, Head of Client Services/Business Development at Granby and UK Warehousing Association Board member, attended the UKWA Conference in Nottingham. Victoria was joined by our MD, Caroline Noblett. This year’s Conference was bigger and better than ever. The event’s theme was ‘2024 The Year of Warehousing’. The UKWA had designed a busy programme aimed at helping delegates empower their businesses, optimise their operations and secure their future. Victoria reports that the discussions were “…engaging, informative, insightful and even challenging.”

Forklift Truck Graduates

Exciting news from our operations team at Granby! Eddie Pickup and Richard Willmott have both successfully completed a 3-day Novice Counterbalance training course and are now counterbalance forklift graduates. What are Counterbalance forklifts? Counterbalance forklifts are characterised by their weight distribution, with the weight of each load being counteracted by the weight of the machine itself. The design allows them to lift and move loads with stability, making them versatile workhorses in our warehouses. However, the sheer power and potential hazards associated with these machines necessitate thorough training for operators.
